One thing that caught my attention while doing the reading was the tone the author used to takes about America. I could tell right away that he wasn't American. Then I looked at his name on the cover of the book and it sounded like a Spanish last name. Also, he mentioned that people started farming in the South and moved up North. This confused me a little because one of my instructors in a different class mentioned that first people started in Eurasia and moved to North America.

  1. To clarify, the author was referring just to farming in the western hemisphere (North and South America), where it began in the south and moved north well before 1492. Agriculture developed separately and earlier in Eurasia. Hope that helps.
